Great Rail Journeys launches new Christmas Markets River Cruise

Great Rail Journeys is offering something to look forward to this festive season for travellers.

It is introducing a brand-new Christmas Markets of the Rhine tour.

It follows a bumper period of holiday bookings among those aged 55 plus since the government roadmap announcement in February.

Great Rail Journeys says it has reported an average 320% uplift in bookings for winter tours compared to the same period in 2019, and booking increases have risen as high as 1,400% for bucket-list trips such as its Northern lights and Lapland tour.

While travelling on Great Rail Journeys' new Christmas Markets of the Rhine no-fly river cruise, guests will explore Germany's renowned Christmas markets and enjoy visits to Rüdesheim, Bonn and Cologne, as well as the natural beauty of the Rhine Gorge.

It is being operated by the new MS Amadeus Silver II cruise ship.

Julian Appleyard, Commercial Director of Great Rail Journeys said: "It is fantastic to see that the appetite for travel is still there with such a boost in bookings from our customers. We are ecstatic that we can meet this demand with a new tour for our customers and a series of incredible bucket list trips."

Great Rail Journeys guests have peace of mind with the flexible booking offer, available on bookings made before 30 April, enabling guests to transfer their holiday dates for free should their plans change.

The five-day Christmas Markets of the Rhine is priced from £825 per person,  which includes a four-night cruise on board the MS Amadeus Silver II, with a Christmas themed gala.

Departure point is London St Pancras.
