Cyprus confirms plan to welcome UK travellers

The government of Cyprus has confirmed plans it is ready to welcome UK travellers as soon as they are permitted to go overseas.

Authorities said UK residents will be allowed in from 1 April although non-essential international travel out of the UK is banned until mid-May at the earliest.

Brits need a negative PCR Covid test to avoid quarantine at the moment if allowed to travel there.

From 1 May, all travellers with proof they have 'the required doses of a recognised vaccine' don't need a negative Covid test.

"Taking all necessary measures to ensure that visitors enjoy their holidays in a safe and carefree environment, Cyprus will be opening its borders to all UK visitors," the government said in a statement.

"Cyprus will continue to provide the best holiday experience to which our visitors are accustomed."

Fifteen more countries join the UK on Cyprus' 'coronavirus safe list' on 1 April which include the US, Russia, Israel, Ukraine, Egypt and the UAE.
