Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis plans to sign an executive order banning any businesses from requiring vaccine passports to use any services, including access to theme parks.
The order would prevent businesses from refusing service to anyone customers unable to prove they had been vaccinated.
It comes as the Biden administration announced i is was coordinating efforts by private companies to develop a vaccine passport-style plan but it will not be managed at a federal level.
"It's completely unacceptable for either the government or the private sector to impose upon you the requirement that you show proof of vaccine to just simply be able to participate in normal society" the Republican Governor said.
"You want to go to a movie theater. Should you have to show that? No. You want to go to a game, should you have to show that? No. You want to go to a theme park? No. We're not supportive of that."
That could see tourists only able to get to Florida with a vaccine passport - for example by plane - but would be able to travel freely and frequent businesses without needing to show it again.
If signed, the Governor's order could jeopardize a recovery for the MICE industry in Florida.
Despite DeSantis' political rhetoric, NBA team Miami Heat plans to defy this and have a section at the American Airlines Arena reserved for fans who can prove they have been vaccinated.

While I personally believe in receiving covid vaccines, I do feel that having another way of tracking your movements is a violation of your privacy. I expect whenever I travel out of the country and use my passport that I am being tracked by the government but the idea of Big Tech knowing my every movement outside of what they already are tracking is going too far.
