Jet2 pushes restart back to late June

Underwhelmed by a lack of detail in the Global Travel Taskforce's framework for a restart of international travel, Jet2 has pushed back its resumption of operations to June.

Hoping to restart in May, the airline and tour operator has extended cancellations until 23 June

The announcement on the framework left many unanswered questions for travel suppliers and holidaymakers alike, and adds to the uncertainty, Jet2 said.

The framework 'lacks any rigorous detail,' said Steve Heapy, CEO of and Jet2holidays.

"Following the publication of the framework, we still do not know when we can start to fly, where we can fly to and the availability and cost of testing. Rather than answering questions, the framework leaves everyone asking more," Heapy said.

"It has been over a year since international travel was first suspended because of the pandemic. Much has been achieved in that time, making it even more frustrating that we are still to receive a clear framework."

"We know it can be done, in a safe and secure way, and we will continue to support the government to achieve this."
