Covid reaches Mount Everest

The Covid pandemic has reached new heights with several climbers at Mount Everest base camp reportedly struck down with the virus. Base camp officials said they had received reports of 17 confirmed cases from hospitals in the capital Kathmandu.

The Nepal government hasn't confirmed any positive cases yet in climbers who were on Mount Everest. The Department of Tourism issued nearly 400 climbing permits for this year's climbing season.

Nepal has seen a surge in new cases in the past few weeks. There have been 400 deaths in the last two weeks alone.
