Travelodge appoints Craig Bonnar as permanent CEO

Budget hotel chain Travelodge has named Craig Bonnar as new Chief Executive.

Bonnar has been serving as Travelodge's interim Chief Executive since the start of the year and has been a member of the group operating board since his appointment as Chief Operating Officer in January 2017.

His understanding of the Group, and comprehensive experience in the retail and hotel sector are all key assets to successfully lead its on-going transformation, the company says.

As COO, he had direct responsibility for leading the group's operations across its hotels in the UK, Ireland and Spain.

Key achievements included implementing a three year strategic review of the hotel operating model, delivering improvements in the company's 'Net Promoter Score', colleague engagement and generating big productivity savings.

Prior to joining Travelodge, he worked at Asda for over twenty years, holding a variety of senior roles including: Head of Retail Operations and Vice President Store Proposition and Format Development.

"He has led us through a critical period of recovery and with his in-depth knowledge as COO; Craig was the natural choice," said Martin Robinson, Travelodge Chairman.
