Former London City Airport chief passes away

Aviation veteran Richard Gooding OBE has passed away, following a recent illness.

He began his aviation career back in 1966 with BEA.

Gooding was also instrumental in the transformation of London City Airport as CEO.

The airport was later sold to Global Infrastructure Partners, where Gooding remained a Non-Executive Director.

In 1999 Gooding was given The Queens Award for Export, Technological and Environmental Achievement.

This was followed in 2006 with an OBE for his services to Aviation.

On retirement from London City Airport he relocated to Suffolk where he established a holiday-let business.

The funeral is scheduled for18 June and is restricted to family only due to Covid protocols.

A memorial service will be held in London with the date yet to be confirmed.

A memorial garden will be created in his name, and wife Jacqui has launched a Just Giving appeal to support the project at
