Jet2 delays restart until July

Jet2 has pushed back the restart of flights and holidays due to changes made to the government's traffic light system.

It saw Portugal downgraded from the green to amber list.

Jet2 delayed he restart until at least 1 July and called for more clarity on the government's Covid data gathering so the industry can better understand the reasoning behind the decisionss.

"We know how disappointed our customers and independent travel agency partners will be following today's announcement, and we share their concerns and frustrations," said Steve Heapy, CEO of and Jet2holidays.

"We are now calling for complete openness and transparency when it comes to the data, so that customers and the industry can really understand what is driving these decisions."

Jet2 said flights to Turkey will not restart until 22 July as the country remains on the red list.

The company said customers with bookings to destinations currently on the amber list will be allowed to amend travel free of charge if they were due to travel between 1 - 21 July.
