IATA Travel Pass digital Covid app to go live within weeks

IATA's Travel Pass Covid health app will officially go live within the next couple of weeks, the aviation trade body said.

Feedback from the testing phase has been 'very positive' IATA Director-General Willie Walsh said.

The test phase with various airlines involved about 60,000 travellers, he said.

The Travel Pass has been trialled by many airlines including Emirates, Qantas, Singapore Air, British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, and has just announced budget carrier Vietjet as its newest airline partner

The app allows travellers to store and manage verified documentation for Covid-19 tests or vaccinations.

As well as sending test results and vaccine certifications to users securely it helps users to find test centres at departure and arrival locations.

It also lists up to date information on travel restrictions in each destination.

The app has also been updated to help speed up border point clearance upon arrival.
