Green list Malta tightens rules for UK travellers

Malta has moved to tighten restrictions for UK holidaymakers, just as it was included on the UK's green list.

Expecting a flood of visitors, it has issued its own restrictions, requiring proof of vaccination in order to travel quarantine-free.

It takes effect from 30 June and unvaccinated travellers will face self-isolation on arrival.

The Maltese government amended rules due to concerns over the spread of Covid variants in the UK, which has led to a surge in cases.

Malta hasn't yet said whether the NHS app will be accepted as a 'vaccine passport' proof.

Malta was added to the green list along with Spain's Balearic Islands, Madeira and some Caribbean islands but is the only one not on the 'green watchlist.'
