Border staff told to stop routine green, amber Covid checks to reduce queues

Border staff are allowing travellers from green and amber list countries to skip Covid checks on arrival to alleviate long queues at airports. Trade union ISU says officers will no longer routinely check that people have tested negative before departure or have filled out a passenger locator form.

The union says it is to reduce long waiting times at border entry points. The government and industry group Airlines UK say carriers are compelled to and are still verifying test results ahead on inbound flight departures but did not address the situation at UK border points.
