Azul plans USD1 billion electric plane deal

Brazil's Azul plans to kick out the carbon by purchasing $1 billion of VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) electric aircraft. It signed a tenatative agreement with German manufacturer Lilium. The strategic association accord could see Azul buyng more than 200 aircraft and developing a network of VTOL airports in Brazil.

Aircraft could begin operating by 2025. Azul currently has 160 aircraft, operating 200 routes with a pre-pandemic average of 700 daily flights.
