Thailand bans sunscreens in marine national parks






Thailand has banned coral-damaging sunscreens containing chemicals from all of its marine national parks. The Thai Department of Conservation said four main ingredients found in mass produced sun creams have been proven to destroy coral and cause reef bleaching.


It will dish out fines of up to THB100,000 (£2,100) for anyone breaking the law. It hasn't said how it will enforce it and if there will be specific laws for retailers. Similar bans have been introduced in the Pacific island of Palau and Hawaii.
