Norwegian CEO slams Florida's 'shameful' vaccine passport ban

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings CEO Frank Del Rio launched a withering attack on Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis over his divisive vaccine passport ban

He called Florida's appeal in its legal fight to ban vaccine passports as 'shameful.'

"It's beyond bizarre. It's shameful.  This is a pandemic we are talking about, people are dying every day, Florida is now is the epicenter of the epicenter. What does it take for common sense to rule?" Del Rio told Yahoo Finance.

"Our leadership has failed us," Del Rio said, saying it is a failure that the US does not  have a nationwide vaccine mandate.

Norwegian is fighting a legal battle in Florida against Governor Ron De Santis' ban on vaccne passports.

The cruise line won the first round, successfully blocking the law temporarily, but the state has vowed to appeal.

"There is a state here that relies on tourism, it's the number one industry, and the top priority of the hospitality business is to keep customers safe," Del Rio said.

The state law prevents businesses from asking customers for proof of a vaccination.

Norwegian Cruise Line resumed operations from Florida this week with all crew and passengers vaccinated.
