Cathay Pacific pledges 10 percent of jet fuel consumption will be SAF in a decade

Cathay Pacific has vowed to use sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) for at least 10% of total fuel consumption by 2030. The Hong Kong carrier was the first airline investor in Fulcrum BioEnergy and committed to 1.1 million tonnes of SAF over a 10-year period.

It plans to start using SAF produced by Fulcrum for its flights departing the US from 2024 onwards, as Fulcrum scales up its production.

The airline says it is 'a clear signal of our determination to achieve our net-zero emissions target.'
