Playa Hotels & Resorts is amplifying agents’ earning power with more bonus offers during April. Travel agents across the UK and Ireland can now earn double Playa Points on every single Wyndham Alltra booking they make and log via Playa Rewards. Additionally, six Fam trip places are still up for grabs, offering agents the chance to experience multiple Playa brands first hand in either the Dominican Republic or Mexico. Double rewards are available now on all bookings to Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana, Wyndham Alltra Samana, Wyndham Alltra Cancun, Wyndham Alltra Playa Del Carmen, Adults Only, and Wyndham Alltra Vallarta. Bookings must be logged before 30 April 2025. Hyatt Hotels Corporation confirmed an agreement to acquire Playa Hotels & Resorts worth approximately $2.6 billion. It includes approximately $900 million of debt. Hyatt is currently the beneficial owner of 9.4% of Playa’s outstanding shares. Playa’s portfolio spans Mexico, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic “Hyatt has firmly established itself as a leader in the all-inclusive space through an investment in Playa Hotels & Resorts that launched the Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara brands,” said Mark Hoplamazian, CEO, Hyatt. “We have respected and benefitted from Playa’s operating expertise for years through their ownership and management of eight of our Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara hotels.” “This pending transaction allows us to broaden our portfolio while providing more value to all of our stakeholders.” The deal will expand Hyatt’s distribution channels, including ALG Vacations and Unlimited Vacation Club, to Playa’s portfolio, offering additional benefits to guests of Playa hotels. The pending acquisition marks the next step for Hyatt’s all-inclusive portfolio, following the acquisition of Apple Leisure Group in 2021, and a 50/50 strategic joint venture with Grupo Piñero, which added the Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts portfolio. Hyatt expects to fund 100% of the acquisition with new debt financing and expects to pay down over 80% of this with proceeds from asset sales, it said. The acquisition is anticipated to close later this year, subject to Playa shareholder and regulatory approval.

Following its recent announcement of successful growth in the luxury segment across the United States through conversions, Marriott International Inc. announced that it will work with the hotel operator Playa Hotels & Resorts to expand The Luxury Collection brand in the Mexican Caribbean, with Paraiso de la Bonita, a Luxury Collection Adult All-Inclusive Resort, Riviera Maya. Set to open in late 2024, the resort will be situated on 14 acres of lush natural landscape, nestled between a mangrove reserve and the pristine waters of the Mexican Caribbean. “We are delighted to expand the footprint of The Luxury Collection in Mexico and can’t think of a better company to do so than Playa Hotels & Resorts,” said Laurent de Kousemaeker, Chief Development Officer for Marriott International in the Caribbean and Latin America. “Paraiso de la Bonita will continue to deliver on The Luxury Collection promise of providing access to the most fascinating and sought-after locations on earth, while offering unparalleled amenities and service that discerning global explorers have come to expect from the brand.” The property is located in Puerto Morelos, a picturesque fishermen village, which is just 20 minutes away from Cancun International Airport, yet a world apart from the popular and bustling tourist spots nearby. The resort is anticipated to feature 100 oversized, stylish oceanfront suites, as well as an array of amenities, including an expansive 22,000 sq. foot spa. In line with the brand’s commitment to showcase local gastronomy and provide unique, locally inspired dining experiences, the resort is anticipated to have three restaurants, including one with a 5,000-bottle cellar, as well as a sushi and ceviche bar. Playa Hotels & Resorts (NASDAQ: PLYA, Playa), a leading owner and operator of all-inclusive resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean, and Marriott International, Inc. today announced an agreement between Francisco Martínez, the owner of Sanctuary Cap Cana, and Marriott International to debut Marriott’s first all-inclusive extension of The Luxury Collection brand in the Dominican Republic with Sanctuary Cap Cana, a Luxury Collection Adult All-Inclusive Resort. The new resort is expected to open in summer 2022 under The Luxury Collection brand. Nestled in the heart of the Dominican Republic, the resort is located in Cap Cana, a private enclave in Punta Cana comprised of 30,000 acres of flawless beaches. Visitors will experience a wide variety of attractions, including the “Punta Espada” golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus, a state-of-the-art marina with more than 150 slips accommodating yachts up to 150-feet, as well as an equestrian center featuring two world-class polo fields designed by Alejandro Batros. The adults-only 325-room resort underwent a renovation in 2019 and includes five a la carte restaurants, six bars, five pools, and Sanctuary Town, the resort’s own nightlife destination.
