Crystal, the leader in exceptional cruise experiences, announced today that Crystal Serenity scored a perfect score of 100 during the ship’s recent United States Public Health (U.S.P.H.) inspection conducted by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The inspection was held on 27th September 2025 while the ship was in Boston during her first voyage back in North America following a summer season in the Mediterranean.
To earn a 100 score, cruise ships must receive perfect marks on all 44 items that comprise the U.S.P.H.’s comprehensive Vessel Sanitation Program checklist. The unannounced inspections, which are conducted twice yearly and are required for any cruise ship with an international itinerary calling at a US port, evaluate vessels in a wide variety of areas, including adherence to proper food handling, preparation and storage procedures, and overall galley cleanliness. In addition, ships’ potable water supplies used in spas and pools are evaluated.
Bernie Leypold, Crystal’s SVP of hotel operations, comments: “We are incredibly proud to have earned a perfect score on our recent U.S.P.H. inspection. This achievement reflects the unwavering dedication of our senior officers and crew who work tirelessly each day to uphold the highest standards of cleanliness, safety and service. A perfect score is a true testament to their professionalism and passion for delivering the exceptional Crystal experience our guests have come to expect.”
Accommodating 740 guests, Crystal Serenity was fully refurbished in 2023 following the purchase by Abercrombie & Kent Travel Group. Guests can enjoy Umi Uma by Nobu Matsuhisa, the only Nobu restaurant at sea, along with Beefbar and a recently redesigned menu in Osteria d’Ovidio by the renown Michelin-starred Alajmo brothers. Le Casino de Monte-Carlo adds to the ship’s sophisticated collection of world-class dining and entertainment along with the personalized service that won the brand the Top Midsize-Ship honours in the 2025 Travel & Leisure World’s Best Awards.
The ship is currently sailing throughout New England and Canada before transitioning to Fort Lauderdale for the Caribbean season. Crystal Serenity will host the brand’s final 35th Anniversary voyage on 22nd October.
