Popular sailing adventures relaunch along Sri Lanka’s southern coastline

G Adventures is dropping anchor once again in beautiful Sri Lanka as they relaunch their popular sailing adventures along the island’s southern coastline. Combining adventure and relaxation, the trips offer a completely different way to explore the ‘Pearl of the Indian Ocean’, experience the natural beauty, cultural richness, and marine wonders of Sri Lanka from the deck of a catamaran

“We couldn’t be more excited to relaunch Sailing Sri Lanka – South Coast,” says Vince Donnelly, Global Sailing Director, G Adventures. “There’s no better way to explore the beauty of Sri Lanka and the trip is the perfect mix of adventure and chill, with spectacular wildlife, sunrise swims, delicious food and time in local villages where residents welcome you like family. With demand for Sri Lanka growing, we knew it was time to bring this one back into the spotlight and do more to support a country that’s been through so much in recent years.”

With first departures in December, the seven-day ‘Sri Lanka Sailing – South Coast’ trip can also be combined with land-based trips to create an incredible two-week Sri Lanka experience. The sailing relaunch comes following a five-year pause due to the pandemic and a 29% increase in demand for Sri Lanka over the past 12 months*.

The sailing trip will see travellers step aboard a 54ft CEYCAT Catamaran and embark on a coastline-skimming adventure, starting and ending in the southern town of Mirissa, famed for its soft sand and opportunities to spot the resident blue whales,  the largest mammal on earth. From Mirissa, the group will tack east to Kudawella and Kalametiya, keeping eyes peeled for more dolphins and whales, diving into the sapphire-blue waters for swims, SUP and kayak sessions.

Every trip will be guided by one of G Adventures’ charismatic CEOs, or Chief Experience Officers, and will also include an on-board Skipper and Chef, who will serve up fresh catch of the day and gastronomical local dishes.

G Adventures’ Sailing Sri Lanka trip is ready to book now. It can be tagged on to a number of G Adventures’ existing land-based itineraries, creating trips of up to 14 nights, or enjoyed as a dedicated sailing-based adventure.
