ONYX Hospitality Group Embarks on Major Refurbishment of Amari Don Muang Airport Bangkok, Amari Buriram, and Amari Phuket

ONYX Hospitality Group, a leading hospitality management company in Southeast Asia, has announced a major brand enhancement programme for three of its key Amari properties – Amari Don Muang Airport Bangkok, Amari Buriram, and Amari Phuket. The initiative is designed to elevate guest experiences and meet the evolving needs of today’s travellers, reinforcing the Group’s vision to be the best medium-sized hospitality management company in the region.

Mr. Yuthachai Charanachitta, Chief Executive Officer of ONYX Hospitality Group, which manages the Amari, OZO, Shama, and Oriental Residence brands, said: “We believe that maintaining standards and continuously developing our hotel brands are key drivers of growth. This refurbishment initiative underscores our commitment to strengthening the Amari brand, ensuring competitiveness in the market, and responding to the diverse needs of modern travellers. Our goal is to cement our position as the leading hospitality management company in ASEAN.”

Amari Don Muang Airport Bangkok is set to undergo a comprehensive upgrade, encompassing improvements to the building structure, guestrooms, lobby, fitness centre, and dining outlets. A key highlight of the renovation will be the launch of Prego Don Muang, part of the renowned Italian restaurant brand celebrated for over two decades of international culinary excellence.

Amari Buriram will follow with a full-property transformation, which includes the opening of Prego Buriram, bringing authentic Italian flavours to the region and enhancing the overall guest experience.

Meanwhile, Amari Phuket, located on the world-famous Patong Beach, is preparing for a redesign aimed at delivering an elevated resort experience. The refurbishment will focus on creating larger, more comfortable guestrooms tailored to international leisure travellers seeking spacious accommodation with premium amenities. Guests will continue to enjoy the tranquillity of the resort while having access to vibrant activities, dining venues, and cafés nearby.

These renovation projects reflect ONYX Hospitality Group’s continued commitment to enhancing guest experiences and delivering world-class hospitality. Upgrades for Amari Don Muang and Amari Buriram are scheduled from mid-2025 to mid-2026, while the transformation of Amari Phuket is slated to begin in 2027, with design works already underway.

These enhancements will reinforce Amari’s brand identity and uphold its competitive edge while appealing to a wide spectrum of target markets. Amari properties are maintained under a systematic maintenance plan, with major refurbishments typically taking place every 10–15 years. Recently upgraded properties include Amari Koh Samui, Amari Bangkok, Amari Pattaya, and the newly refurbished and rebranded Amari Bangsaen, which saw a full guestroom makeover and upgraded facilities.

The locations of these three projects offer exceptional potential. Amari Don Muang Airport Bangkok’s direct connection to Don Mueang International Airport provides unmatched convenience for transit passengers, MICE travellers, and tourists heading to destinations around the world. This major renovation will deliver a refreshed brand experience that truly meets the needs of modern business and leisure travellers seeking comfort and connectivity. It also aligns with the upcoming expansion plans of Don Mueang International Airport.

Amari Buriram is strategically located near major sports venues and key attractions in Southern Isan, making it a prime destination for both domestic and international visitors. Meanwhile, Amari Phuket continues to stand out as a leading resort on the globally renowned Patong Beach. The investment is set to elevate the appeal and value of each property, broaden their customer reach, and address the distinct needs of each market segment, thereby reinforcing ONYX Hospitality Group’s overall competitiveness.

“Amari continues to serve as the flagship brand of ONYX Hospitality Group, with 16 properties currently in operation. The brand has consistently maintained a strong average occupancy rate across its portfolio, reflecting the trust and confidence travellers place in Amari. This solid foundation supports our investment strategy to elevate the guest experience even further.”

“The upcoming renovations reaffirm ONYX Hospitality Group’s vision to become the leading hospitality management company in the region. We are committed not only to creating memorable guest experiences, but also to investing in sustainable business growth while upholding exceptional service standards in every dimension.” concluded Mr. Yuthachai.
