West Hollywood has been a gathering place for the music and entertainment world for a long time with hotels playing a big role in the history and culture of the area. Apart from being a celebrity hang out, many hotels feature quirky offerings that allow guests to immerse themselves in the true spirit of West Hollywood. From recording studios and instrument rentals at the eccentric Hotel Ziggy to rooftop pickleball at the luxury Kimpton La Peer hotel, here are five hotels with quirky offerings that make a stay in West Hollywood all the more worth it.

The Shred Shed, Hotel Ziggy

Paying homage to West Hollywood’s eccentric musical history, Hotel Ziggy, located on the iconic Sunset Strip, is a 108-room concept hotel with decor that reflects their mission and catchphrase – “free the music”. In line with that, Hotel Ziggy’s Shred Shed gives guests the unique opportunity to dive into the world of music-making, offering a variety of instruments and equipment such as electric and acoustic guitars, as well as Walkmans with cassette tapes, for rent. From guest rooms to restaurants and even their outdoor saltwater pool (the only one in West Hollywood), Hotel Ziggy exudes the counterculture, rebellious spirit of the Sunset Strip and West Hollywood.

Sunset, The West Hollywood EDITION

Reflecting the nightclub scene that dotted the Sunset Strip in the ’60s and ’70s, Sunset is a speakeasy-esque venue located in the basement of The West Hollywood EDITION with a focus on both great cocktails and great music. The venue houses a dance floor, pool table and a private room which can be booked for intimate parties. Open every Friday and Saturday, Sunset hosts a variety of weekend lineups which are not to be missed.

FaceGym, 1 Hotel West Hollywood

Targeting the 40 forgotten muscles in the face, FaceGym is the only gym studio that focuses solely on facial muscles. Trainers employ a variety of effective and non-invasive techniques to lift, sculpt, tone and tighten facial muscles. Customers can also choose to add-on a range of technologies such as lights, radio frequency and cryotherapy as part of their workout regimes. With the wide range of workout options available, trainers are able to customise plans specific to individual needs. The gym also creates customised Training Serums for their customers to enhance the individual experience. Located just outside the front entrance of 1 Hotel West Hollywood, hotel guests enjoy 20% off all studio workouts when they present their hotel keycard.

Morrison Hotel Gallery, Sunset Marquis

Immerse in the legendary era of rock and roll, jazz, blues and more through photography at the Morrison Hotel Gallery. Co-owned by celebrity photographer Timothy White, the Morrison Hotel Gallery located in the Sunset Marquis hotel houses some of the most iconic and famous photographs of past and present music icons. Representing over 125 photographers, the gallery brings to light unseen archives, drawing from a vast and growing catalogue of genres, even including sports and Hollywood photography dating back to the 1940s.

Rooftop Pickleball, Kimpton La peer Hotel

Leveraging on the fast rising popularity of the obscure sport, pickleball, and adding to West Hollywood’s bustling rooftop scene, Kimpton La Peer Hotel’s rooftop pickleball court offers travelers a new avenue for wellness and communal fun. Known as Centre Court, the rooftop court promises an unforgettable atmosphere, complete with spectacular views of West Hollywood’s Design District below, as well as a curated selection of handcrafted cocktails. Over the weekend, it transforms into Disco Court, creating a one-of-a-kind experience, complete with DJ sets, cocktails and small bites. Centre Court is open for private court sessions at £58 for up to 12 people inclusive of food, drinks and equipment, along with exclusive use of other lawn and roof games. Disco Court offers open play by joining the waitlist on the Pickleheads App upon arrival.
