Golf in Annecy Mountains

Wednesday, Oct 08, 2024 0

Mention Lake Annecy and people picture turquoise lakes, the cobbled old town and the surrounding Aravis mountains. BUT this area, Annecy Mountains  also has a great offering for golfers to combine a sports break with some foodie hot spots to savor the local reblochon cheese and to enjoy a game of golf within the incredible surrounding lakes and mountains backdrop. Here are a few of the best golf courses and options around the region:

In Le Grand Bornand

Golf Le Rocher Blanc

Located in the Bouchet alley in Le Grand-Bornand, Le Rocher Blanc golf course is a relatively technical course at the foot of the Aravis mountain range, offering a magnificent view of its highest point: the pointe Percée. Founded in 1987 and now offering pitch and put 9 holes and a nine-hole course, the gold course is welcoming and open every day from the beginning of May to the end of October with local restaurants and terrace alongside. Stay the night at 3* Les Fermes de Pierre & Anna, over 300 years old and on the edge of the golf course.

In La Clusaz

Golf des Confins

At the top of the valley, close to the pretty Lac Confins the Golf des Confins offers a 10 hole golf course along with a driving range (carpet and grass bays), a putting-green, an approach course as well as the rental of clubs and equipment sales, covered sheltered areas and a restaurant on site. This is prime time mountain viewing golf with the Aravis range literally ascending from opposite the golf course. https://www.laclusaz.com/en/details/golf-des-confins/

Sources du lac d’Annecy

Heading away from the Aravis, just 10 minutes from Lake Annecy is the golf course in Giez. Le Golf des Alpes, in Giez, offers two golfing experiences with the Belvédère course, 18 holes, par 72, and the Castors, 9 holes, par 33. A natural setting on 75 hectares, in the heart of the Sources du lac d’Annecy between the Bauges and Aravis massifs and with an incredible view of 4810m Mont Blanc. Plus the turquoise waters of Lake Annecy clearly visible in the distance.

Lake Annecy

Created in Haute Savoie in 1953 on the initiative of local personalities, the Golf du Lac d’Annecy course was designed by the architect Cecil BLANFORD, located in the Roc de Chère nature reserve, on the edge of Lake Annecy. In this exceptional environment, golfers can enjoy peace and quiet, and appreciate a magnificent landscape of mountains and lakes. An association club under the 1901 law, the Golf du Lac d’Annecy places the emphasis above all on club spirit and sporting life. For club members and visitors, beginners or more experienced players, competition and leisure. The Mulligan Restaurant, overlooking the golf course offers lunch and dinner from 1st March to end October.
