Americans spending more on outbound tourism

Americans travelling abroad spent a record 15.8 billion on tourism activities in January, according to the National Travel and Tourism Office.

That tops any other month prior to the Covid pandemic.

The total number of outbound travelers was also higher.

More than 4.2 million Americans few out of the country in January for vacations, which is up 7% on pre-pandemic levels.

It was a huge 75% more than in January 2022.

There was a tourism trade deficit of about $1 billion.

International visitors to the US spent about $14.7 billion in January on tourism-related activities in the U.S.

NTTO January data showed there were 3.4 million trips to and from Mexico, 2.1 million to Canada and just over one million to the UK.
