500 TSA employees have tested positive for Covid-19
The Transportation Security Administration has revealed that 500 employees have tested positive for the Covid-19 virus.
So far five TSA workers have died.
Like the country in general, New York is a red zone for infections with more than 40% of cases.
More than 100 TSA screeners at New York JFK Airport have tested positive while there were 56 in Newark and 32 at New York LaGuardia.
Other significant infection hotspots include Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport , Miami International and Denver.
The agency says 208 TSA airport employees have recovered from the virus.
It says it is ‘committed to notifying the public about airport locations where TSA employees or screening contractors have tested positive for the Covid-19 virus.’
"TSA has implemented procedures to increase social distancing and reduce direct contact between our employees and the traveling public whenever possible – all without compromising security," it said on its website.
The agency allows pasengers to leave on masks during identity and ticket checks.
