The airline and the Victorian Government signed a strategic agreement to increase connectivity to Melbourne to further boost tourism. Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker, said: “Melbourne is the original home for Qatar Airways in Australia, and we are excited to enhance our operations.” “The launch of the additional daily flight to Melbourne ahead of World Cup Qatar 2022 will allow more football fans to attend matches.” The additional Melbourne schedule includes an onward leg to Canberra, resuming a once-daily connection between Doha and Canberra starting 1 October. The added daily flight will be operated by Boeing 777-300ER. The airline will operate a total of 40 weekly flights to Australia. Including Canberra, the airline will operate to six destinations in Australia. Qatar Airways recently announced a strategic partnership with Virgin Australia, which offers increased options across 35 domestic destinations, as well as Fiji and Queenstown, New Zealand. Melbourne Airport Chief Executive Officer, Lorie Argus, said: “There is huge demand for international travel out of Melbourne, and these extra services couldn’t come at a better time with the soccer World Cup kicking off in November.” -

This new codeshare agreement means travellers can purchase connecting flights on both airlines using a single reservation with seamless ticketing, check-in, boarding and bag-check The partnership will enable customers to book offers from southern Africa to popular destinations in the US, cities in Europe such as London, and points across Asia. The agreement also increases Qatar Airways’ footprint in southern Africa, with improved access to destinations such as Ggeberha (Port Elizabeth) Hoedspruit, Skukuza, George in South Africa and beyond to Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Mozambique. Qatar Airways Group CEO, Akbar al Baker said: “Expanding our network with Airlink gives our customers more choice of destinations and flights, that we hope will contribute to the rapid recovery of travel.” Qatar Airways is the only airline to launch new services in southern Africa after the pandemic, starting operations to Luanda, Harare and Lusaka last year. “This development is an endorsement of Airlink’s relevance to providing air access to the entire region through our expansive network of destinations,” Airlink Chief Executive, Rodger Foster said. It remains mandatory to download and activate Qatar’s Ehteraz mobile health appn to show a green health status while staying in Qatar. All visitors to Qatar who are fully vaccinated with a Cpvid-19 vaccine are not subject to quarantine, unless travelling from a red list country. All passengers must sign an Undertaking and Acknowledgement Form before arriving in Qatar. The form is available on the Ministry of Public Health website and pre-registration platform website Travellers should activate the app on their mobile phones using a local or international SIM card on arrival. -

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker, said: "The transition from Qmiles to Avios marks a new era for Privilege Club." IAG Loyalty owns and operates the Avios currency and is used by British Airways Executive Club, AerClub, Iberia Plus and Vueling Club.
