A first: non-stop from Canada to Australia
Air Canada is launching its first ever non-stop flights between Australia and Canada.
There will be double daily flights starting 16 December in time for the park travel season in the southern hemisphere.
Flights will use 282-seat Airbus A340-300 aircraft for non-stop service from Sydney to Vancouver. Southbound flights, requiring a stopover in Honolulu for refueling, will allow passengers to stay on board and eliminate US customs clearance.
The flight time will be 14 hours and 40 minutes.
“With the introduction of A340 service to Australia, we are offering customers superior choice and the convenience of non-stop flights for the first time,” said Ben Smith, vice president, planning, Air Canada.
He said Air Canada would also maintain its second daily flight operated via Honolulu with a 212-seat Boeing 767-300ER airplane.
