A Gem of a Boutique in the City – The Leonard Hotel & Apartments, London
The Leonard Hotel (official site: http://www.theleonard.com/) welcomed us with open arms as we checked in after a very long flight from Los Angeles, plane change in Chicago and 4 hour train connection through Manchester, north of London. The warmth of the lobby and inviting fireplace melted the stress away.
We dropped our bags, freshened up a bit, and proceeded to have a meal in the hotel’s restaurant. For such a small boutique property, the chef did a phenomenal job of presenting a nice selection of menu items and food presentation. All our meals at the property were wonderful as well as the staff who couldn’t do enough for us. In the evenings we would often ask for a snack to take up to the room and the same high quality of food and presentation presided.
The manager took me on a tour of the various rooms and suites as well as the fully furnished apartments across the street (for longer stays or …). All were comfortably furnished with full amenities and plenty of space. The 2 bedroom suites in the hotel included a nice kitchen (see the picture below) and living room area. We settled in quickly to our home-away-from-home. It felt so much like home that it was difficult to leave at the end of the week.
Boutique Hotels are in high demand these days, as certain travelers prefer small, unique, out of the limelight venues that offer exceptional service and security.
