Abacus adds more net fares with SmartPrice
More than 20,000 Abacus-connected travel agents across Asia Pacific now have access to more than five million origin and destination net fares with Abacus SmartPrice.
Abacus said the number of net fares, which grew 30% year-on-year, "is testament to the increasingly competitive state of the travel industry today".
More than 900 airlines and wholesalers are providing net fares with Abacus to address the rising demand for lower fares content by travel agents, as well as drive greater competitiveness beyond publicly filed ATPCO and SITA fares.
Abacus VP Marketing and VP India Brett Henry said Abacus had the most extensive fare content access, with some airlines having up to 80% of their fares ticketed using net fares content.
"We recognise the constant demand amongst travel players for information on both the lowest fares as well as a wide range of fare options, and the integrated content with net fares will help them do this more efficiently."
Henry said net fares are playing an increasingly important role in the Asia Pacific travel landscape, "and this is evidenced by a high penetration rate of net fares content of up to 60% in some markets”.
The integrated net fares content in Abacus SmartPrice is now available in Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippines. This will be followed by individual launches in other markets across Asia Pacific.
