ABTA unveils risk theme for October Convention
ABTA has chosen the theme of ‘Risk and Resilience’ for this year’s Travel Convention.
The theme will run throughout the business sessions, which will address how travel businesses can plan for and offset risks in an increasingly complex working environment.
"We are all operating in an increasingly connected and increasingly uncertain global network,” said chief executive Mark Tanzer.
“By nature of what we do as an industry we have a high level of exposure to political, economic and business risk.
“But history also shows that it is in times of uncertainty that the greatest businesses have been created, so we shall be looking at how you manage downside risk, but also how you seize the future."
Ian Goldin, professor of globalisation and development and director of the Oxford Martin School at the University of Oxford, has been announced as the first speaker.
His presentation will ‘offer insight into the major shifts in society and technology and identify the opportunities and strategies needed to build resilience against risk in the travel and tourism industry’.
The Travel Convention will take place from 12-14 October 2015 in Greece.
Hosted by the Region of Peloponnese and the Greek National Tourist Office, it will be supported by Costa Navarino, the Westin Resort Costa Navarino and Aegean Airlines.
