Active Hotels launches into Greek market with Ionian Hotels & Resorts

Saturday, 31 May, 2005 0

Active Hotels, one of Europe’s leading online hotel reservations providers has signed an agreement to promote the whole network of self-catering properties through to five star hotels managed by the Ionian Hotels & Resorts Group in Greece.

The Ionian Hotels & Resorts network aims to boost family run establishments by providing them with the competitive business advantages reaped by multinational hotel chains. The network currently has 165 member properties across Greece in Athens, Corfu, Zakynthos, Thessaloniki, Lefkas and Kefalonia. Over 100 of these properties are now live on the Active Hotels system with rates starting from as little as €20 per night per room for a 2 star property. The remaining properties are scheduled to be integrated by the beginning of June 2005.

Manos Ziniatis, Managing Director, Ionian Hotels & Resorts said: “Active Hotels has provided us with an excellent cooperation and is perfectly placed to understand our organisation’s objectives. In the same way that Active started its business activities by providing an internet presence to small specialised properties, we too aim to offer the benefit to our full range of member properties of establishing successful strategic alliances with leading businesses and achieving a better global market and business presence.”

Future plans include the promotion of a number of Egyptian properties managed by the Ionian Hotels & Resorts Group, to be added later this year to the Active Hotels portfolio.

Julie Marino, European Contracts Manager, Active Hotels said: “This is an exciting initiative for Active Hotels which is currently forging ahead in new markets, providing accommodation ranging from small specialised guesthouses through to luxurious five star properties. We are delighted to welcome the Ionian Hotels & Resorts network of properties and look forward to a rewarding collaboration.”
