Actor Danny Glover joins Airbnb as anti-discrimination adviser
Airbnb has tapped Hollywood actor and activist Danny Glover in a bid to become more inclusive.
Glover joined Airbnb as an advisor as it continues to revamp its anti-discrimination policies.
The ‘Lethal Weapon’ star will engage with communities of color to ‘ensure members of these communities are taking advantage of the economic opportunity of hosting on the Airbnb platform,’ Glover said in a blog post announcing his appointment.
"I know Airbnb has had its own share of challenges in this arena but working with them, I’ve seen first-hand how committed they are to getting it right."
Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky has said racism is the ‘greatest challenge’ Airbnb faces.
The Glover appointment follows a similar initiative with civil rights group National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) to expand hosting opportunities for minority groups.
It made a commitment to double the number of hosts in areas dominated by minorities.
