Adria Airways confirms new flights to Ljubljana
Slovenian airline Adria Airways has confirmed it will launch a twice weekly summer service from Liverpool to the Slovenian capital city of Ljubljana.
Flights will start on May 2020 and operate on Saturdays and Wednesdays on an 86-seat CRJ900 aircraft, continuing throughout the summer until October 24.
The airline, which is a Star Alliance member, will offer the North of England’s only direct service to the Slovenian capital.
It will be the tenth airline to operate from Liverpool John Lennon Airport. Aviation development director Paul Winfield said: "We are delighted to welcome our latest carrier, Adria Airways to Liverpool. Adria will continue to serve the North West market, with an enhanced product, from Liverpool John Lennon Airport."
The news comes after Luton-based budget carrier Wizz Air suspended sales on its Luton to Ljubljana service from the end of the summer season. The airline has intended to increase capacity for the winter by using a large aircraft on the three times a week service, but it is no longer selling flights on the route beyond October 25. It is expected to resume its Ljubljana service next summer.
