Aer Lingus achieve new online booking highs on their Datalex powered Web site, aerlingus.com
Aer Lingus recently achieved record highs for the number of bookings made online using Datalex’s distribution technology. The airline has achieved the highest number of online sales for any given month since the launch of aerlingus.com. In all, 669,000 seats were sold through aerlingus.com in January, which is a 50% increase on the same period in 2004. Booking levels have now exceeded Aer Lingus’ original maximum expectations of 65% of global bookings being made online. As a result, Datalex is working with Aer Lingus to enable the airline to accomplish deeper penetration for its online distribution. Aer Lingus has stated a target of 75% global sales and 90% of Irish sales made through its Web site by the end of 2005. Datalex today published a case study on the aerlingus.com project, stating that while online sales increased from 3% to 70%, Aer Lingus reduced its distribution costs from 21% of revenues in 2002 to 6% in 2004 using the Datalex solution.
