Aer Lingus CEO to leave sooner than planned
Aer Lingus’ outgoing CEO Christoph Mueller will leave earlier than planned, according to a statement from the airline.
Mueller, who is due to become CEO at Malaysia Airlines, was due to leave Aer Lingus in May, but will now leave on February 28.
His decision to leave Aer Lingus was first announced in July last year.
Until a new CEO is found, the airline’s chairman Colm Barrington will take executive responsibility for strategic matters.
The latest announcement was made to the stock exchange yesterday as speculation emerged that British Airways’ parent IAG is set to raise its offer for Aer Lingus.
IAG made an informal takeover offer at the end of last year, but according to the Irish Times, its sources believe IAG is now considering making a higher offer.
