Michael Vinales, Managing Director, Olympic Holidays “The Greek Islands each have their own vibe, views, charm, cuisine, jaw dropping sunsets and beaches, you really are spoilt for choice, but at the same time – where do you start trying to figure out where to go for your big day. Well, my top tip, don’t just limit yourself to one island. Variety is the spice of life and island hopping is taking off. It’s a fantastic way to combine a dream wedding and honeymoon in one fell swoop and there really is something for everyone – big, small, budget or blow out and we’re excited to be working with our trade partners to help turn dreams into reality for numerous happy couples.” Olympic Holidays are specialists in co-ordinating a wedding, honeymoon, island hop combo. Whether it’s a religious, civil, symbolic or same sex wedding, their dedicated team can help coordinate the lot. Take Santorini for example, with its Instagram worthy, archetypal properties built into the cliffs, instantly recognisable whitewashed facades, blue-domed churches and spectacular sunsets, it’s arguably one of the most romantic of all the Greek Islands and once the nuptials have taken place, is perfect to combine with an island hop over to Mykonos, Naxos or Paros. There’s also Rhodes, with its rich classical heritage, basking in over 300 days of glorious sunshine a year and just a short hop from more intimate island gems such as Karpathos, Halki, Symi and Kos. These smaller islands provide the perfect escape for newlywed couples to start their lives together and are home to all types of accommodation from self-catering apartments through to luxury retreats. If you dream of a barefoot wedding with sand between your toes, The Princess Andriana on Rhodes provides just that. Sunset weddings don’t come much better than at the Santorini Gem with magnificent views of the Santorini Caldera, a large volcanic crater off the island’s coast or the Amada Colossus on Rhodes which overlooks one of the finest beaches on the island. For charming chapel weddings, look no further than Rhodes’ very own St Sophia, perched high on a hill or Aghia Fotini at the Pyrgos restaurant on Santorini. Or, if you’re looking for a truly traditional affair, St Pauls Chapel or the Kalithea Spa in Rhodes with its beautiful gardens, mosaic and marble floors won’t disappoint. Sample Packages Rhodes & Kos: A 14-night wedding and honeymoon Island Hop package starts from £8,216 per couple including the wedding and 7 nights on an AI basis at Princess Andriana Resort & Spa and 7 nights at Ikos Aria on an AI basis. Santorini & Mykonos: A 15-night wedding and honeymoon Island Hop package starts from £8,910 per couple including the wedding at Santorini Gem, 8 nights at Cliff Side Suites on a B&B basis and 7 nights at the Myconian Ambassador Hotel & Thalassa Spa on a B&B basis. Prices above include flights, luggage, all transfers.

Michael Vinales, MD Olympic Holidays comments: ‘Variety is very much the spice of life this year and we’re seeing a surge in popularity for Island Hopping experiences. People are booking longer trips and as such are looking to do and see more during their time away. Island Hopping is by far the best way to do this and islands are our speciality – we truly believe there is no better way to experience a country. We have carefully curated a collection of fantastic Island Hops and Island Swaps and there is something for everyone, be that cultural, gourmet, family, off the beaten track or the ultimate in R&R. For our trusted trade partners, we continue to offer price parity, deposits for our Island-Hopping Holidays start from £200pp along with the flexibility of choosing from a variety of airlines, durations and departure airports’. Jewel in the Crown: Pelion Peninsula, Skiathos & Alonissos: Tucked away in the Pagasetic Gulf in eastern Greece, the Pelion peninsula (a new destination for Olympic Holidays this year) is characterised by sweeping mountain vistas, enchanting villages and hideaway beaches. Named after Mount Pelion, which majestically overlooks the peninsula, this locality is all about lush local charm and the splendour of the winding coastline. A relatively untouched part of Greece, this is a region in which to embark on magical forest hikes to discover monasteries and wonderful waterfalls, or meander through chocolate-box villages surrounded by olive groves, such as Makrinitsa and Milies. Continue your journey on the island of Skiathos, just 12 miles long but with more than 60 beaches. The narrow streets of the bustling old town are crammed with shops, cafes and bars and you can climb Medieval castles, stroll through forests, discover quiet sandy beaches and even take a rescued dog for a walk. And to finish, there's amazing Alonissos a true gem for those wanting to get away from it all. The island is also home to Europe’s largest marine park which protects monk seals and dolphins. Littered with beaches, many are surrounded by pine forests that cover much of the island. Price: 11-night island hopping itinerary to include 4 nights at Charloula’s Studios, Pelion, 3 nights at Alkmene Studios, Skiathos, a further 3 nights staying at Atrium of Alonissos and final night in Pelion or Skiathos from £985pp for departures Summer 2022 from Gatwick. Island hop available from May – October. Accommodation on a mix of self-catering & B&B basis, all ferries and private car transfers between the ferry port and hotel included. https://www.olympicholidays.com/multi-island-hopping/jewel-in-the-crown/ Rhodes & Halki: Rhodes, the largest of the Dodecanese islands, boasts stunning beaches, more than 30 with Blue Flag quality status. Delightful Old Rhodes Town has a labyrinth of narrow, cobblestoned streets, full of boutiques, bars and restaurants and you step into history as you go through one of the medieval city wall gates. One of the highlights is Street of the Knights, dating back more than 500 years to when the crusading Knights of St John ruled the city. On the other end of the scale you have Halki – a tiny island where time really has stood still and where you can truly experience “authentic Greece” with friendly locals welcoming visitors like long lost friends. Think pastel-coloured houses with red-tiled roofs cluster around a horseshoe-shaped bay. Taverna tables are sprinkled along the quayside where colourful boats bob. Highlights include remote beaches, the deserted, ghost town of Horio, monasteries, churches and chapels, wild herbs and prickly pear trees. Price: 7-night island hopping itinerary to include 4 nights in Rhodes staying at the Anixis Apartments and 3 nights in Halki at Villa Chrysodimi from £639pp for departures Summer 2022 from Gatwick. Island hop available from May – October. Accommodation on a mix of self-catering & B&B basis, all ferries and private car transfers between the ferry port and hotel included. https://www.olympicholidays.com/two-island-hops/rhodes-halki/ Malta & Gozo: In the middle of the Mediterranean, these warm and welcoming islands enjoy balmy weather year round and are fascinating places to explore. The small, sparkling island of Malta packs a big punch! History lovers can trace 7,000 years of human activity and explore fascinating cultural museums and palaces. The island is also abundant in natural wonders; from the Blue Grotto caverns to the Blue Lagoon on the tiny island of Comino, hilltop villages and chic fishing harbours just waiting to be visited. Malta's sister island, Gozo offers a haven of tranquillity with the crystal clear waters being a prominent feature. Gozo is an island surrounded by myths and mystery where the shrine of Ta Pinu Church is seen by many as a modern day miracle. Legend has it that the nymph Calypos bewitched a shipwrecked Ulysses for seven years. Price: 6-night island hopping itinerary to include 3 nights in Malta staying at the Solana Hotel & Spa and 3 nights in Gozo at the Quaint Boutique Hotel Xewkija from £679pp for departures Summer 2022 from Manchester or £719pp from Gatwick (other regional airports available). Island hop available from May – October. Accommodation on a mix of self-catering & B&B basis, all ferries and private car transfers between the ferry port and hotel included. https://www.olympicholidays.com/two-island-hops/malta-gozo/ Kefalonia & Zante: Touch down in Kefalonia, an island brimming with sublime beaches, endless natural beauty and opportunities for infinite adventures on land and sea. Bursting with untouched scenic beauty, it is a delightful mixture of old and new and perfect for couples and families alike. A tranquil place to start your holiday, it’s great for total relaxation or for those looking for a multitude of activities. Island hop over to Zante for golden sands, buzzing nightlife, traditional charm, beautiful countryside and romantic seclusion – Zante is the full package. Explore St Nicholas and Banana Beach, great for watersports and scuba diving, while those aiming to chill out on can enjoy the quieter Gerekas and Porto Zorro, and a boat trip to Navagio Bay, where the hulk of a wrecked ship lies on the sands is a must. Pelion is where the Greeks themselves go for a weekend to unwind and be close to nature. It is Greece as she used to be, as yet untouched by mass tourism and commercialisation and unaffected by foreign influence. The peacefulness and majestic beauty can't fail to enchant and will bestow a sense of calm and tranquillity on all who visit. The Pelion Steam Train is a great way to soak up the scenery while letting the train do the work. During the warmer months, visit the beaches at Agios Ioannis and Mylopotamos – or discover your own secluded stretch of coastline for a swim. The vibe of a Pelion peninsula holiday is about the beauty of nature. For those who want a little urban buzz too, a visit to the small city of Volos is fabulous for a little shopping, waterfront eateries and day trips to tiny neighbouring islands. Elsewhere in the Pelion peninsula, discover seaside tavernas serving authentic cuisine amid a rustic atmosphere, or experience wines in local vineyards, where the vines have been nurtured by the one-of-a-kind mountain climate. And for those who enjoy the quirkier things in life, the Pelion peninsula has a Museum of Worry Beads in Portaria! For walking or mountain biking holidays, central Pelion, overflowing with natural beauty is the place to go. The hillsides are densely wooded with pine and fir, chestnut and oak among which clear springs burst out from underground - there is an ever-present shush of flowing water. Old mule tracks make useful guide paths among the forests and fruit orchards, and the views from the perilously winding mountain roads down to the coast are spectacular. It is a paradise for nature lovers and ornithologists with many unusual species to spot. In the mountains of central Pelion you will really get a feel of the authentic Greek way of life when you visit some of the hamlets accessible via narrow and twisting mountain roads. It's worth the jangled nerves from negotiating the bends for the arresting panoramic views and the delightful little towns where tavernas serve delicious traditional fare. How to Get there…Fly direct from London Gatwick to Volos (3hrs 30). Things to do…Try horseriding from Argalasti for a unique way to explore, jump on the steam train from Ano Lehonia to Milies, cruise the Pagasitikos Gulf on a gullet to remote beaches and Trikeri Island. Enjoy the magnificent sandy beaches on the eastern coastline and the mountain villages of Tsagarada and Milies among many others. Visit the city of Volos with its archaeological museum, shops and atmospheric evening waterfront walks, take a guided walking tour from Agia Kyriaki. Learn to dive in Trikeri, windsurf, sail or kayak to some otherwise unreachable places or take a trip to Meteora and be amazed by its incredible mountain top monasteries. How to get around…Buses can be taken between most villages in the Pelion peninsula and the city of Volos but given the more rural nature of the place, hiring a car is preferable and by far the best way to explore and discover the coastline and mountains on your own schedule. Why Olympic…Olympic Holidays is ABTA and ATOL protected and they offer free amendments if customers need to change a booking, deposits from just £89 and a full refund guarantee so customers can book with confidence. Where to stay… Valis Resort Hotel, Agria Overlooking the deep blue waters of the Pagasetic Gulf and with the Mountain of Centaurs in the background, Valis Resort Hotel is the perfect choice to explore the stunning villages of The Pelion Peninsula. The Valis Spa promises to help you immerse yourself in a sensual paradise with a combination of Western and Eastern treatments including detox and anti-stress massages, Hydro massage and reflexology. There has been speculation that Greece and Spain could go amber-plus which would mean fully vaccinated holidaymakers would still have to isolate on their return, although the government hasn't officially confirmed it. France was the first country to get amber plus status over concerns about the Beta variant. "France is one of the big three countries we visit each year and I think the concern is the Government will be looking at Spain and Greece and potentially add those to the amber plus category," Charles said. "Luxembourg has very high incidence of the Brazilian variant, so must surely be red at least amber plus. Belgium, Netherlands and Germany must be at risk too - low incidence of variants but it could change," data analyst Tim White told the Telegraph. France has called the UK's decision baffling and 'excessive,' said France's junior European affairs minister Clement Beaune.
