Aeromexico rolls out new branded fare structure
Aeromexico has unveiled a new fare structure which includes a new bare bones ‘basic economy’ fare option.
It is part of a new ‘branded fares’ structure that starts at basic economy and gets progressively pricier with classic, flexible, AM Plus, comfort and premier fares.
The fares will be available on all domestic flights as well as routes to the US and Canada.
It was perhaps only a matter of time for Aeromexico to jump on the basic economy bandwagon as joint venture partner Delta was the first US legacy airline to offer it.
Delta says it now offers basic economy fares on more than half of its flights to and from Mexico.
Aeromexico’s bare bones version is very similar to that offered by Delta in that customers do not get seat assignments before check-in and no refunds are permitted.
It does however allow one free carry-on bag onboard.
The airline’s other fare bundles progressively offer more perks such as seat assignments, more legroom and priority boarding.
Aeromexico also announced this week it has renewed its long term distribution partnership with Sabre Corp.
