Agents express regret over Aphrodite Hills takeover

Independent agents have expressed their regret over TUI’s takeover of the Aphrodite Hills Resort in Cyprus.

Many took to travel industry Facebook page, Travel Gossip, saying they will not sell the resort once it reopens as a Sensatori resort despite it being a ‘great family property’.

One said: "It was us loyal independent agents that put it on the map, then snatched from right under our nose."

Another independent agent said: "I don’t think anyone is happy about this…unless of course you work for TUI! My regulars have already said they won’t be going once its Thomson owned."

Under the takeover deal, which was agreed yesterday with TUI, the hotel will close in December for a major refurbishment.

When it reopens in April 2015 as a Sensatori resort, it will be sold exclusively by TUI operators in the UK.
