AIDAdiva first to connect to Swedish shore power
Cruise ship AIDAdiva has marked the launch of Swedish shore power as the first cruise ship to plug in at the Port of Stockholm
The shore power connection took two years to develop and build the system.
AIDA Cruises was a project partner.
“With our shipboard investments, we are actively supporting the European Union’s goals to build a shore-side power infrastructure in ports,” said Dirk Inger, AIDA’s SVP Public Affairs, Communication & Sustainability.
AIDA Cruises has been incorporating this technology into construction of its ships since 2004.
In April 2022, AIDA Cruises signed a declaration of intent with Cruise Baltic, a network of 32 ports and destinations, to use shore power in the ports of the Baltic Sea region.
The cruise line is aiming for net-zero emissions in its fleet by 2050.
