Air France, Airbus acquitted in 2009 plane crash
Air France and plane maker Airbus have been acquitted of involuntary homicide in a plane crash that killed 228 passengers and crew.
An Air France plane plunged into the Arlantic Ocean in 2009 en route to Paris from Brazil.
“No criminal liability seems to be applicable,” one of the magistrates said.
The court did cite certain reckless or negligent practices but were not a major factor contributing to the plane crash.
Although they were found not guilty, Air France and Airbus could now be liable for civil damages.
A hearing on this is scheduled for September.
