Air India flights supended again by Hong Kong
Air India flights to Hong Kong are once again temporarily suspended after Hong Kong reported its highest daily number of new cases for a month.
Hong Kong’s Civil Aviation Department said the airline is banned until 3 October after more passengers on its flights were found to be positive for Covid-19.
One-third of all the 23 new cases of Covid-19 originated from India, officials said.
Six passengers tested positive for Covid-19 on the flight.
Another five were found to be positive on a Cathay Dragon flight from Kuala Lumpur.
Cathay Dragon is now banned from operating the KL route for two weeks.
Hong Kong previously suspended Air India flights between mid to late August after 14 passengers on its Delhi-Hong Kong flight were positive even after taking pre-travel tests.
Hong Kong officials flagged the quality of work at testing labs in India.
last week Air India Express flights were initially suspended in Dubai for similar reasons but the temporary ban was revoked after one day.
