Air Pacific cancels Vancouver code share
Air Pacific has announced that it has cancelled its Vancouver code share, which it had planned to start twice weekly via Honolulu with Harmony Airlines from last Friday, March 30.
A statement from the local airline said following an evaluation, it concluded that it was not appropriate to commence code share services and had advised Harmony that the code share was terminated, adding, “Arrangements were put in place for customers booked on Friday, March 30, and Sunday, April 1, code share services to be transferred to Air Pacific flights via Los Angeles with connecting flights to and from Vancouver”, adding, “On Friday, April 6, Air Pacific will reinstate scheduled services Nadi/ Honolulu/Vancouver using Air Pacific Boeing 737 aircraft.
The statement said, “The second (Sunday) service will be provided via Los Angeles on Air Pacific’s scheduled B747 service with connecting flights on Alaskan Airlines non-stop between Los Angeles and Vancouver.”
“There will be no additional costs to customers for the service via Los Angeles.”
Air Pacific said Harmony announced on March 28 that it was changing its business model from scheduled to charter flights and would cease scheduled services from April 9.
Air Pacific MD John Campbell said, “It is unfortunate that the owner of Harmony Airlines provided us with such short notice of the decision to cease scheduled operations, nevertheless, Air Pacific has been able to ensure service between Canada and Fiji through very rapid redeployment of aircraft and service arrangements.” “We are confident that the arrangements made will ensure visitor arrivals from and Fiji residents’ travels to Canada will continue on a regular and reliable basis with Air Pacific.”
