Air Seoul the latest Korean carrier to suspend Japan routes
Air Seoul has become the latest carrier to cut services as trade tensions between South Korea and Japan continue to impact tourism.
The Asiana Airlines subsidiary announced it would suspend flights from Incheon to Toyama, Kumamoto, and Ube in Japan staring next month.
Air Seoul will also reduce frequencies to Osaka and Yonago from September 16.
The Osaka route will be cut to nine times a week, down from 14, and to Yonago from six weekly flights to three.
The trade spat is especially damaging for Air Seoul as two-thirds of its network are Japan routes.
It is also reportedly considering trimming flight frequencies to Sapporo, Okinawa, and Fukuoka.
Now all South Korean budget and full service carriers have reduced their flight schedules because of the downturn in trade and tourism
These include Korean Air, Aseana, T’way Air and Eastar Jet.
