Air Tahiti Nui wins global airline awards

Thursday, 13 Aug, 2008 0

For the sixth consecutive year, Air Tahiti Nui has won the prestigious accolades of “Best Airline – Pacific Region” and “Best Cabin Staff Pacific” in the global Skytrax World Airline Awards.

The international airline of Tahiti and Her Islands – which this year celebrates its 10th anniversary – operates scheduled services between Papeete, French Polynesia, and the USA, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.

“We strive to deliver authentic Tahitian service, and to be recognised for the quality and consistency of our service,” said Craig Lee, Regional Director Australia for Air Tahiti Nui.

“To win these accolades once is a great honour, and to win these awards for six years running is testimony to our commitment,” said Mr Lee.

“But for an airline that celebrates its 10th anniversary later this year, it is a great vote of confidence in our young team worldwide that we have managed not only to win these awards, but to win them in six consecutive global assessments of the entire airline industry.”

Mr Lee said Tahiti was one of the world’s most idyllic and aspirational destinations. “We are delighted that our airline is also ranked as highly as our home,” he said.

The Skytrax awards were based on worldwide surveys of more than 15 million air travellers  of 97 nationalities, during the period from August 2007 until June 2008, assessing an extensive list of product and service criteria on the ground and in the air.

The Chief Executive of Skytrax, Mr Edward Plaisted, said the World Airline Survey was established in 1999 as an independent and  totally customer-based review of airline standards. To emphasise the independence of its awards, Skytrax does not accept sponsorship.

“Respect is not something that can be bought, but has to be earned through hard work, discipline and adherence to a firm set of principles,” said Mr Plaisted.

Air Tahiti Nui offers two weekly nonstop flights and two one-stop services from Sydney to Papeete, with onward service to the USA and Europe. Nonstop flights from Sydney take just seven hours, connecting smoothly with onward flight to Los Angeles, New York and Paris.
