AirAsia flight skids off runway
Passengers on an AirAsia flight from Manila had to use the emergency slides after the aircraft skidded off the runway.
The airline has confirmed that flight Z2 272 overshot the Kalibo International Airport runway upon landing at 05:43 local time.
It said all 153 passengers and crew were able to disembark safely and no injuries were reported.
A local journalist who was on board the Airbus A320-216 has been posting photographs and updates on her Twitter page.
Jet Damazo-Santos said: "Engine was shut immediately, we were told to leave bags, deplane asap. Firetruck was waiting."
She said the weather had been bad due to the tropical storm Seniang, which has been sweeping across the Philippines in the last few days.
Her photographs showed elderly passengers having their blood pressure checked following the emergency and of cabin crew waiting on the tarmac without their shoes on.
AirAsia tweeted saying that all passengers had been put up in a hotel, but the journalist disputed this, claiming most were still stranded at the airport.
The incident came just hours after officials confirmed that debris and bodies found off the coast of Borneo Island were from Air Asia flight 8501, which disappeared from radar on Sunday.
