AirAsia X halting New Zealand flights
AirAsia X is pulling out of the New Zealand market again.
The Malaysia-based budget airline will halt services to Auckland via the Gold Coast next February.
It will affect about 2,000 Kiwi customers.
Before it ends the service completely it is gradually paring it back from daily to four flights a week from January 29.
The decision to ditch the route is ‘a difficult one,’ the carrier said.
”AirAsia thanks those guests who have flown with us over the past two and a half years and apologises for any inconvenience caused,” it said.
Customers should reach out to the airline’s customer happiness teams for alternative travel options.
Those options are to bring the travel date forward, reroute the journey or to request a full refund or flight credit.
AirAsia has been operating the route for more than two years.
It previously pulled out the market back in 2011 after demand plummeted following the Christchurch earthquakes.
