AirAsia X is late for its own party

SEPANG: TravelMole was a little surprised that AirAsia X didn’t launch a PR blitz for the launch of its flights between Perth and Kuala Lumpur.

The reason has become apparent. The low-cost, long haul carrier’s inaugural flight on Sunday was postponed.

Local reports said passengers were sent to hotels where one woman had to share a double bedroom with a male stranger.

Back in KL yesterday, a tour of AirAsia-X’s new Airbus A330 ended up as a computer slide show after the plane failed to touch down on schedule due to the delay in its departure from Perth.

AirAsia-X chief executive, Azran Osman-Rani, told waiting guests at the low-cost carrier terminal that the plane was delayed in the interests of safety but did not specify the cause of the problem.

Yesterday was AirAsia X’s first anniversary of commercial service.
