Some hosts of online home sharing marketplace Airbnb are to get a bigger say in how the company is run.
Selected hosts will be invited to attend executive board meetings and have more direct contact with CEO Brian Chesky.
That will include regular emails and quarterly Facebook Live events.
Airbnb also plans to establish an advisory board made up of hosts.
Certain hosts will be invited to one board meeting a year.
Airbnb say hosts are voters and taxpayers in their own communities and collectively can exert influence on elected officials when it comes to regulatory issues.
"Our community is able to be a counterweight to the historic power of the hotel industry. They are real people who do vote," said Chris Lehane, Airbnb head of global policy.
During an event at Airbnb’s San Francisco headquarters on Tuesday, CEO Chesky said the network of ‘host clubs’ will be expanded to about 1,000 by 2018.
Host clubs were launched in 2015 as a way to encourage host advocacy and engage with local lawmakers.
