Flights between Glasgow and Reykjavik are to be reinstated by Icelandair.
Two flights a week will run on Thursdays and Sundays from August 27.
The frequency will then rise to four flights a week from September 25.
The four flights a week will operate as a “triangle route” from Reykjavik to Manchester, then Glasgow and returning to Reykjavik.
The schedule fits into Icelandair’s hub and spoke system, allowing passengers to connect onwards to US destinations such as New York, Boston and Seattle
“The connection times to North America are short, resulting in elapsed flying times comparable or better than the competition,” the airline said.
Icelandair is offering an Iceland City Break package starting at £249 including return flight from Glasgow, three nights’ 4-star accommodation, plus tour. Travel is valid from September 15 to 15 December 15 but must be booked online at www.icelandair.co.uk by July 31.
Glasgow airport managing director Amanda McMillan said: “Icelandair is one of Scotland’s longest serving airlines, with 60 years of service between our two countries.
“We are delighted that Icelandair is continuing to show its commitment to Scotland with a re-launched programme that not only re-connects Glasgow with Reykjavik, but which also offers improved connections to Icelandair’s extensive North American network.”
