Airline shares rise as oil price drops
Travel and tourism shares failed to make any real headway yesterday on a day when London’s main equity indices moved ahead.
The FTSE 100 index added just 4.5 points to end the day at 4947.4, while the FTSE 250 did much better and gained 54.2 points to end the day at 7217.5.
The most significant move came at British Airways, which added 5.5p to close at 267.5p as oil prices dropped. EasyJet and Ryanair also did well, adding 6p to 214.75p and 2.75p to 416.75p respectively.
