Airline to launch scheduled flights to Tunisia beach resorts

Tunisian airline Nouvelair will launch its first scheduled flights from the UK in May to fill some of the gap left by the collapse of Thomas Cook Airlines.

Its flights will operate from Manchester and London Gatwick to Enfidha airport, which is conveniently located for Tunisia’s beach resorts.

The Gatwick service will launch on Saturday May 2, followed by the Manchester service on May 3.

Flights will operate up to twice per week from Gatwick and three times per week from Manchester until the end of October, with the possibility of extending through the winter season.

Nouvelair was established in 1989 and has a long history of operating charter flights between the UK and Tunisia on behalf of British tour operators.

It has a fleet of 12 Airbus A320s. It took the decision to launch its own scheduled flights following the collapse of Thomas Cook, which had a significant flight capacity to Tunisia.

Sales and marketing director Karim Dahmani said: "We believe that Nouvelair must play its part in helping travellers return to Tunisia for holidays. It is important for us to support the leisure economy of Tunisia, especially now the largest UK provider of seats to Tunisia is no longer in the market."

Nouvelair is part of the Tunisian TTS Group, which is one of the largest tourism companies in the country, and also operates a DMC and hotels.

It will provide seats to UK tour operators as well as selling through travel agents and OTAs.
