Virgin Australia says delays to its new terminal at Perth Airport are costing the airline "tens of millions of dollars" and has impacted the launch of check-in technology across the country.
Virgin chief executive John Borghetti said Virgin passengers in Perth are not receiving the same standards as at airports on the east coast, where it had opened new lounges and facilities.
It is also confusing for Perth travellers as the carrier operates flights from two separate locations at the airport, he said.
"I have to say I’m disappointed at the way the project continuously gets delayed,” Mr Borghetti said.
"Of course I know it’s a very complex project — all airport projects are complex projects, but it’s not the first airport project that’s ever been put together and there far more complex ones than this one.”
The new facility was originally due to open last June.
Borghetti said the delays had affected the launch of Virgin’s new check-in technology as Perth had been chosen as the first airport to roll it out.
Perth Airport officials now say they expect all work to be finished by June 2015.
